Appearance: Bright and clear gold.

Nose: Subtle Islay whiskey peat smoke and hayshed characters envelop macadamias, white nectarine and loquats.

Palate: Luscious palate with supporting acidity reveals cinnamon, coconut, fresh baked bread and a hint of chinese gooseberries. Silky, full and long with the slightest grip of oak.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
Rosily’s single site vineyard is home to seven different clones of Chardonnay, which are grown on three distinct parcels of land within the site. The gingin clone was first planted in 1994, towards the top of a gravelly north facing slope. Shoot growth and yield are both naturally shy, and the vines are cared for viticulturally with all the best certified organic treats available – nitrogen fixing cover crops, composts, fish emulsions, humates and amino acids. The Dijon clones were grafted onto Shiraz rootstock in 2006, and are more vigorous and higher yielding. As such, they are grown on a two-tier trellis system, and shoot trimmed, hand leaf plucked, and bunch thinned as required to achieve optimal quality.

Winemaker Notes
In creating the 2022 Reserve Chardonnay, winemaker Peter Stanlake has added three of the Dijon clones (95, 96 and 277) to a backbone of the gingin clone. These selected parcels are then hand harvested, and whole bunch pressed directly to French oak (two-thirds new) for wild fermentation.
