Rosily’s single site vineyard is home to seven different clones of Chardonnay, which are grown on three distinct parcels of land within the site. The gingin clone was first planted in 1994, towards the top of a gravelly north facing slope. Shoot growth and yield are both naturally shy, and the vines are cared for viticulturally with all the best certified organic treats available – nitrogen fixing cover crops, composts, fish emulsions, humates and amino acids. The Dijon clones were grafted onto Shiraz rootstock in 2006, and are more vigorous and higher yielding. As such, they are grown on a two-tier trellis system, and shoot trimmed, hand leaf plucked, and bunch thinned as required to achieve optimal quality.
