2020 Cabernet Sauvignon
"Classic Margaret River Cabernet here, with black currants and cassis leading the charge, backed up by pencil shavings, oak, a sprinkle of dried herbs and a whiff of black olive. Perfect line and length, and medium bodied elegance. Already attractive, but its perfect balance will see the wine improve for some years. 94+ points. Buy" - Kim Brebach, bestwinesunder20.com, July 2023
"It’s fair to say that some of the best value wines from Margaret River come from this vineyard. This another in a very good year. It’s medium to full-bodied opening with a slightly black olive bay leaf aroma. The palate is balanced with fine grainy tannins working with the gentle touch of oak. There’s a little of that briny oyster shell minerality that finishes the picture. Nice wine. 92 points" - Ray Jordan, WA Wine Review 2023
2019 Cabernet Sauvignon
"The cool 2019 vintage has imbued this wine with poise and delicacy of both aroma and flavour. The '19s will never match the blockbuster 18s that preceded them, however they provide near-irresistible perfume and fine structure, making for exceptional, earlier-drinking cabernets. This is that: very elegant. 92 points." - Erin Larkin, Halliday Wine Companion, Aug 2022
"A most complete and elegant wine, from the classically varietal aromas through to the medium to full-bodied palate with its excellent poise and integration. Has a typical leafy blackcurrant and olive tapanade that you tend to get from this part of Margaret River. Stacks up as a classy cabernet at this price. 92 points" - Ray Jordan, The West Australian, April 2022
"Quite like 2019 for reds in Margaret River, and when they’re good, they deliver a sort of brooding black fruit intensity and ‘mineral’ feel which is very appealing. On the other hand, sometimes they are a bit too dry and leaden. Well, that’s my take on it anyway. Black fruit, bay leaf and mint, cocoa and baking spice. It’s dense and quite sooty, with fleshy tannin, plenty of grip and depth, a savoury tobacco and black olive flavour, and a firm sage-laced finish offering dark fruit and some coal-like ‘mineral’ stuff along with coffee and spice. Good wine. Needs a little time, I’d say. 92 points" - Gary Walsh, The Winefront, Nov 2021
"A generous wine of vibrancy, with black and purple fruit compote, dried herbs and fine tannin. Vanilla and chocolate notes round out this fine example of Margaret River cabernet." - Gourmet Traveller Wine, May 2021
"Nose opens up to delicate dark fruit with a rich, rounded palate. 90 points" - Winestate, Aug 2022
2018 Cabernet Sauvignon
"This is a classy and polished cabernet from this very good vintage. Loads of black fruit characters with an aromatic bay leaf lift to the nose. The tannins are quite chewy and continue to a rich and luxurious feel in the mouth. Has a bright, hig-energy palate of substance. 92 points". - Ray Jordan, WA Wine Guide 2021
"Fairly big Cabernet for this winery, with prominent tannins, dark blue and red fruits, dried herbs and spices, all polished with French oak. A young red that needs time for the elements to come together and settle down. 92++ points". - Kim Brebach, bestwinesunder20.com.au, Oct 2020
"A ripe varietal Cabernet with a big hit of red fruit, lots of chocolately oak, and firm, dusty tannins" 3.5 stars, Winestate Magazine, Aug 2020
"Deep purple colour stains the glass. A bouquet of roast capsicum, black olive, cherry stone, bay leaf and dry spices. A dry wine, more medium in body, texture is all about tannin, the mouthfeel delivers plenty of grip with sweet black fruit on the finish" - Amanda Yallop, The Real Review, Oct 2020
2017 Cabernet Sauvignon
"Reliably a very good example of this definitive regional-varietal nexus. 16 months in French oak, 40% new. Shows its origins on the bouquet with the distinctive herbal/bay leaf aroma to the fore, cassis and cedary oak in the background, building as it opens up. A touch of choc-mint adds to the flavour mix on a seamless palate which finishes with ripe, gently firm tannin. 94 points." - Steven Creber, winecompanion.com.au, Aug 2019
"Boysenberry ripple, redcurrant, mint nougat, cedar and dried herbs. Medium-weight, grainy tannin, quite firm acidity, a bit of understatement, dusty tannin and dried herb to close. Good, but suspect needs another year or two to settle down. 92 points." - Gary Walsh, winefront.com.au, Jan 2019
"Deep red/purple colour with a bright, fresh, clean cassis cabernet aroma, with a trace of linseed (from oak?). The wine is medium to full-bodied, with abundant firm tannins. There is an emphatic entry and finish and a slight hollowness in the middle. The flavours are varietal and attractive, if straightforward. A little time in bottle could benefit this wine. It's already pretty and fragrant. 89 points." - Huon Hooke, therealreview.com, March 2019.
2016 Cabernet Sauvignon
"Rosily's wines represent superlative value across a sensitive winemaking hand. The oak (16 months, 40% new French) is well positioned to chaperone a flow of red and blackcurrant notes, dried sage, bay leaf and olive, along a bed of gravely tannins, moreish and ripe. Bitter chocolate. Mid to full weighted with an accent on savour rather than overt fruit, the finish is nicely firm. 95 points." - James Halliday, 2019 Australian Wine Companion.
"Year in, year out, one of the best value Cabs from Margaret River. Ripe mixed berries, choc-mint slice, violets and pouch tobacco. Medium to full-bodied, smooth and silty tannin, freshness with ripeness, a rosehip thing going on with dried herbs and a long gravelly finish. Nice one. 94 points" - Gary Walsh, winefront.com.au, Sept 2018
"I was the odd man out with the 2015, which didn't really grab me, but this wine does. It's a younger version of the lovely 2014, with ripe but restrained blackberry fruit framed by cigarbox oak and infused with bayleaves and olives. A fine line of firm tannin shadows the wine through to the long finish; great balance and length, this wine has a big future ahead of it. If you drink it now, decant it and give it time to breathe. Real class here. 95+ points." - Kim Brebach, bestwineunder20.com, January 2018
2015 Cabernet Sauvignon
"A flurry of regional flavours of blackberries, boysenberries, some choc-mint, warm soil and bay leaf with cedary oak in check. There's detail on the medium bodied palate and the raw silk tannins add another layer of complexity. Neatly composed and drinking brilliantly now, better with extra bottle age" - 95 points, drink to 2030 - James Halliday, 2018 Australian Wine Companion
"A lovely dense, layered Cabernet with dark berry notes, cassis, dry herbs and cherries. Nicely balanced and a wine with persistence. It drinks well now, but it will age superbly. This is really amazing value, well in the running for the best value Cab in the country - 93 points, drink to 2027+" - Ken Gargett, Winelinx Aug 2017.
"Deep, dark red colour with a strong tinge of purple and an oak-driven bouquet, which has a trace of funk and sweat. This breathed off quickly, leaving dark berries and violets. The wine is concentrated and sumptuous in its fruit flavour and ample firm tannins. A big, generous mouthful of cabernet, ripe and balanced and well-structured for the long haul". ★★★★★ - 95 points, ranked #1 of 60 Australian Cabernets tasted. Drink 2019 to 2035 - Huon Hooke, huonhooke.com 4/4/2017.
"Picture perfect Margaret River Cabernet at a bargain price. Blackberry and blackcurrant, violet, black olive and bayleaf, touch of creamy spiced vanilla oak. Medium bodied, red and black fruits, freshness and density, but delivered with a light touch. Tannin is ripe and gravelly, the finish savoury and long, layered with tobacco and dried herb perfume. Say no more." 94 pts - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front 20/3/17
2014 Cabernet Sauvignon
"Would most likely have to take the biscuit as Margaret River’s most consistent and best value Cabernet. I’m enjoying 2014 Margaret River Cabernet quite a lot. They have depth and super rich, gravelly tannin as a highlight, and with this wine in particular, both are true. It feels like Rosily have taken it up notch in quality this vintage. Dark fruit, cocoa, spice and dark tobacco with a regional bay leaf perfume. Medium bodied, fleshy and ripe with minerally tannin, gentle herbal flavours on a long dark chocolate finish. Spot on. All the ducks in a row this year." - 94 points Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, May 2016
"One of the most underrated reds in Margaret River, year after year. Mick Scott makes classic Margaret River Cabernet: black and blue berries, cedar, bay leaf, dust, olives, gravel – young and brash, built for the long haul but opened up over a few days to show how rich and gorgeous it will be. If the winemakers in Bordeaux knew that we make wines like these for $25, they’d have a fit. 95++ points. BUY." - Kim Brebach, May 2016, bestwinesunder20.com.au
"Fleshy aromas of blackcurrant and red fruit with a cedary overlay of French oak on a leafy background; flavours of cassis, black olive and green herb saturate the palate, the tannins sitting in perfect balance". - 94 Points James Halliday, 2017 Australian Wine Companion.
"Deep, dark red/purple hue and a deep, complex, nicely-oaked bouquet. Violets. Very cabernet and very classy. The palate is intense and deep, elegantly structured and finely textured. The finish is firm and taut, but balanced and appealing. It has some fleshiness. A classic regional cabernet. - 91pts" - Huon Hooke, July 2017, Huonhooke.com
"Another first-rate cabernet which has been something of a winner for Rosily over the years. Deep varietal characters of blackcurrant and black olive in here with a trace of bitter dark chocolate and cedary oak". - 90pts, Ray Jordan, WA Wine Guide 2017
"There is a piercing structure to this wine. It is tightly wound so will certainly age well, and the berry fruit on the palate is held in check by a chunky, chewy, rustic quality. Drink 2017-2025 - Highly Recommended" - Decanter Magazine blind tasting of Margaret River Cabernets, January 2017
2013 Cabernet Sauvignon
"Every vintage from '08 onwards has won at least one gold medal. Estate-grown, it spent 16 months in French oak (40% new). Excellent crimson-purple colour, this nails its colours to the mast the moment you take the first sip, its cassis and mulberry fruit driving through the long medium-bodied palate, meeting died in the wool cabernet tannins and notes of dried herb on the finish". - 95 Points James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion, August 2015
"Leafy black olive and blackcurrant nose on this excellent value-for-money cabernet. It’s intense with concentrated fruit presented with an elegance and stylishness that is so appealing. Neatly infused oak works with the grainy and slightly powdery tannins. There is real presence and poise with this north Margaret River wine that gives a distinct regional stamp". 93 points - Ray Jordan, WA Wine Guide 2016
2012 Cabernet Sauvignon
"This slightly more northern part of Margaret River really does capture the varietal expressions of cabernet so well. The structure tends to be slightly less opulent but the intensity and purity of fruit is well to the fore. This is perfectly balanced with fine grainy tannins and fine oak in support of the medium bodied palate. Long and persistent through to the finish...great value for money. 93 points." -Ray Jordan, The West Australian, August 14th 2014
2011 Cabernet Sauvignon
"Highly recommended: This is very pleasantly fragrant with a nice, sweet loganberry character. Round, supple fruit on the sweet mid-palate and some grainy, ripe tannins. Overall this is quite savoury and spicy; evolving well. Drink 2014 - 2020, 90pts" Decanter Coonawarra & Margaret River Cabernet blind tasting, June 2014
"This has appetising blackcurrant, herb and subtle cedar oak aromas. It’s medium bodied with a tasty layer of savoury grainy tannins and perfectly balanced succulent fruit. 93 points, Value: Fantastic". Ralph Kyte-Powell - Epicure, Jan 21 2014
"Vanilla oak, blueberries and blackcurrants. Ripe, elegant tannins. Wonderful freshness. Balanced. Medium plus-ish. 3.5 - 4 stars (very good - excellent)" Poh Tiong, The Margaret River Report 2014
"Has a distinctive mix of savouriness and leafy cigar box typical of this part of Margaret River. A little blackcurrant and black olive with a slight minerally character working through it. Dusty sinewy tannins and well integrated oak fit snuggly with the fruit. More medium weight and well balanced. 92 points" Ray Jordan, West Australian Wine Guide 2014
"Medium red-purple; the 12 tonnes of estate-grown grapes were picked over a two-week period, giving a spread of fruit character, and the wine spent 16 months in French oak (40% new). The bouquet is particularly fragrant, and the palate opens with cassis fruit and black olive before unexpectedly grippy tannins take hold. These may soften with a few years of bottle age. 90 points". James Halliday - Published on 10 Jul 2013
2010 Cabernet Sauvignon
"Smokey blackberries and black pepper notes. Rich-ish tannins. Fresh. Balanced. Masculine. Medium plus bodied. 3.5 - 4 stars" (very good - excellent). CH'NG Poh Tiong, The Margaret River Report June 2013
"Rosily wines are steadily improving year by year. This Cabernet is possibly the best yet: crisp-edged violet and leafy aromas over mulberry and blueberry, leading to an intense and compact palate loaded with ripe dark fruit flavours." - Huon Hooke, Gourmet Traveller Wine Oct/Nov 2012
2009 Cabernet Sauvignon
"A cabernet that reflects the excellent season in Margaret River. It's muscular and powerful. You get that from the first sniff and then the first tentative taste. A firm thread of tannin and substantial oak provides a rigid spine. The black olive and dark blackcurrant cabernet is so tightly wound at this stage. It is a wine that has some excellent cellaring potential." 94 Points. Ray Jordan, The West Australian, 28th April 2011
"This showcases another piece of Margaret River prowess with plenty of richness and concentration, structure and poise. Cassis, leaves and cedary oak make for an attractive, to-the-point nose, while the palate delivers tangy acidity amid plum and blackcurrant fruit flavours. Tannins flow smoothly through the finish." - 92 points. Nick Stock, Good Wine Guide 2012
"Concentrated oak spice with mint and vanilla notes. Dense on the palate". Judges in blind tasting, International Wine Challenge 2011
"Balanced, elegant and complete...aromas of cassis, raspberries and dark cherries are knit with cedary oak and backed by slightly herbaceous influences. Smooth and supple, it's long and restrained, with fresh brightly lit fruit, fine tannins and a levely acidity". 91 Points. Jeremy Oliver, The Australian Wine Annual, 2012
"Red fruits, dried herbs - very attractive. Firm, full bodied and tightly structured. There are a lot of tannins, but it is ripe and of high quality. A strong cellaring wine". 90 Points. Huon Hooke, Gourmet Traveller Wine, June 2011
2008 Cabernet Sauvignon
"Elegance and style captured perfectly with the distinctive regional mix of sinewy tannins, lengthy black currant and black olive fruit and some nice savoury French oak. Impressive long finish and a structure that seems to sum up what was a very good vintage throughout Margaret River" 92 Points. Ray Jordan, The West Australian, 22nd April 2010
"A top vintage for this maker: Medium to full-bodied fruit-driven Cabernet flavour of cassis and blackberry, a touch of crushed leaf and elegantly structured. Taut without being astringent. Now to 12 plus years" 90 Points. Huon Hooke, "Top 50 Winter Wines" Sydney Morning Herald, 25th May 2010
2007 Cabernet Sauvignon
"Stylish, balanced and harmonious, with a dusty, lightly herbal fragrance of dark plum, blackberries, dark cherries and fresh cedar/vanilla oak backed by nuances of cigarboxes, tobacco, mint and violets. Its elegant and fine-grained, smooth and supple, with piercingly pure small berry, plum and cheery flavour tightly knit with firmish but pliant fine grained tannins, finishing long and persistent." - 94 Points Jeremy Oliver. 2010 The Australian Wine Annual
"Essency blackberry, cassis and violet aromas with typical regional lacing of seaweed; a pristine cabernet with delicious, perfectly ripened fruit and persistent, fine-grained tannins providing excellent structure. A real bargain" 94 Points, ***** Huon Hooke, Gourmet Traveller Wine Oct / Nov 2009
2006 Cabernet Sauvignon
"This intriguing wine's minty bouquet carries through onto the palate; its ripe mid palate fruit weight and stylishness impressive. Lovely to drink now, but should cellar well in the medium term". Scoop, Winter 2009
2005 Cabernet Sauvignon
"Elegant style of cabernet that retains the regional almost house style for this variety and vineyard. Herbals and leafy with some nice tobacco leaf. The palate is packed with tight firmish tannins with flavours of blackcurrant and black olive. An alternative to the bigger more opulant styles. 90/100" – Ray Jordan
2004 Cabernet Sauvignon
"This classic Bordeaux interpretation is a very impressive style from Margaret River North that combines elegance and poise." – Pick of the tasting and Gold medal, 19 points - Scoop Magazine Winter 2007 blind tasting

"Big rich style of Cabernet chock full of blackcurrant, black olive flavours and plenty of savoury oak with fine firm tannin to support" – Ray Jordan
2002 Cabernet Sauvignon
"Almost pure Cabernet with a touch of Merlot and Shiraz. Medium weight. Tight and linear. Minerally cassis notes. Fine tannic edge. Cellar up to 2009 " RATING *** - James Lawther, Decanter Magazine
"This is a very attractive example of a medium to full bodied Margaret River Cabernet. Has beautiful minty red berry smells mingling with dusty and slightly cedar oak. The palate has a firm spine though the tannins are fine. Elegant and lingering. An impressive wine 92/100" - Ray Jordan
2001 Cabernet Sauvignon
"Definitive Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon and intentionally made to an elegant rather than robust style. There's sweet/savoury blackberry fruit, a touch of cassis, an earthy base and beautifully integrated oak. It is smooth and supple enough to enjoy as a youngster but will accept medium bottle age." - Bill Thomson
