"Mick Scott only made 34 cases of it, and explains that it was originally intended for the Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blend but he decided to tone the oak down a little in that blend, so he ended up with a small quantity of barrel fermented Semillon spare. 34 cases. That’s right, just 34 cases.
The is not your usual Semillon; it’s made like a Chardonnay and matured in in French Oak barriques (50% new) for about 10 months. The oak is gorgeous, and would do an expensive white Burgundy proud. It does dominate the grassy, lemony fruit and gentle minerals at the moment but time will help it integrate. The fruit is ripe (13.5%). Lovely stuff. 95 points - Kim Brebach, bestwinesunder20.com.au, March 2017
