Rosily Vineyard is located in the Willyabrup sub-region of the Margaret River wine district. Willyabrup is central to the district, and is home to some of the earliest established Margaret River vineyards such as Vasse Felix, Moss Wood and Cullen Wines.
By Ray Jordan in Wine Business Magazine’s Margaret River special
“Almost from the time the first vines were planted in Margaret River in the mid sixties, there has been something quite special about the South Western corner of Western Australia. A combination of a climate that has proved to be idea for viticulture, some breathtaking natural features that have made it a tourism Mecca, and a lot of energetic committed pioneers who created some of the great names in our wine industry, have created a compelling success story in wine quality.
Margaret River has developed into one of the premium powerhouses of the Australian wine industry. Throughout the district, broadly defined as running south from Busselton through to Augusta, are some of Australia’s finest boutique wineries. And though small by national industry standards, they contribute significantly to the volume of super premium Australian wine.
Initially it was the alternative lifestylers and surfers who gravitated to Margaret River. Then the first vine plantings in 1967 attracted a new bred of people attracted to a climate, location and environment ideally suited to grape growing. The next few years will be some of the most interesting in Margaret River’s history. The established names that were among the first in the region are still the dominant players, but new names are emerging and holding great promise.”
